Weather in the Costa Brava.
The weather in :
Catalonia (Costa Brava) has a Mediterranean climate. However, the weather can be quite different in some places.
Near the Pyrenees, it sometimes can be rainy and cool, on the coast
there is a softer climate.
In Catalonie the rainfall remains,
with about 410 mm rain per year, well below average. You hardly find
successive days of light clouds.
The weather is still the same for years.
Temperatures are relatively stable, although it seems that heatwaves
occur a little more than decades ago. The weather is mild, the summers
are hot, the winters mild and there is sharp, short and irregular rain
in autumn and spring. The wind from the Pyrenees (Tramontana), has a
special effect on the waether, therefore, mostly in spring, it sometimes
can be temporary cold and wet.
The coldest month is January with an
average temperature of about 8 degrees in the Barcelona area.
6 days of rain can happen. The sun
still shines a 170-190 hours, which is a lot comparing to the Netherlands
(41 hours).
July and August can be called as “high
summer”, there is no rainfall (maybe a short thunderstorm). Over years
the average temperature in these months is 28 degrees and the sun is
shining around 300 to 350 hours.
